What does it take to make a saint?

This question and many others about the Roman Catholic''s canonization process are answered in "Proving Holiness," an hour-long documentary that will be released on Sunday, September 19 to the ABC-TV network stations and affiliates. (Broadcast is at the discretion of the local station.)

Narrated by Martin Sheen, "Proving Holiness" goes to Poland, Rome and El Salvador as well as throughout the United States to learn about the lives of four individualsKateri Tekakwitha,Msgr. Nelson Baker, Archbishop Oscar Romeo, and Maria Faustina Kowalska. Through them, viewers learn how a revered local figure gets to be acknowledged as a "saint" by the Vatican.

Ken Woodward, former religious editor for Newsweek and author of "Making Saints," shares his insights about this extraordinary effort and these inspiring people.
